Celebrating the Eternal Spirit of Mongolia
Every summer, under the boundless Eternal Blue Sky, Mongolians gather to celebrate Naadam—the nation’s most treasured festival and one of the world’s oldest living cultural traditions.
More than a sporting event, Naadam embodies the history, identity, and resilience of the Mongolian people. Through the Three Manly Games—wrestling, horse racing, and archery—it honors the courage, discipline, and nomadic heritage that have shaped Mongolia for millennia.
This year’s celebration also reminds us of the remarkable milestones of Mongolian history:
- 2,235 years since the founding of the Xiongnu Empire (209 BC), the first great steppe empire.
- 820 years since Genghis Khan founded the Great Mongol Empire in 1206.
- 115 years since Mongolia restored its national independence in 1911.
- 105 years since the People’s Revolution of 1921.
These anniversaries reflect an enduring tradition of statehood, cultural continuity, and national identity that stretches across more than two thousand years.
Naadam is a time to honor our ancestors, celebrate our traditions, and look confidently toward the future. It reminds us that the strength of Mongolia has always rested not only in its warriors and horses, but also in the unity, wisdom, and perseverance of its people.
Happy Naadam to all!
May your horses run swift,
your wrestlers stand strong,
and your archers shoot with unerring precision.
May every home be blessed with happiness, prosperity, unity, and good health.
May the Eternal Blue Sky watch over us, and may the Mongolian State flourish for generations to come.
Happy Naadam to Mongolians around the world!
